Phagocytosis impairment and its pharmacological correction in hemorrhagic stroke

We studied the features of phagocytic chain of immunity disorders in experimental hemorrhagic stroke (EHS) and the correction of phagocytosis violations with the drug «Cerebrolysin» («EVER NEURO PHARM», Austria), which provides neurotrophic and immunocorrective effects. In 42 Wistar rats with EHS, the ability of spleen and peritoneal exudate macrophages to phagocytosis, NBT reduction and adhesion were studied. It is shown that EHS alters the activity of macrophages of spleen and peritoneal exudate, which is manifested in reduction of spontaneous and induced activity in the NBT test and increase in the adhesive ability. The use of «Cerebrolysin» (intraperitoneally in a dose of 2.5 ml/kg body weight, for 7 days of stroke) contributed to the restoration of disturbed indices of phagocytic immunity. Therefore, the results indicate that «Cerebrolysin» has a direct immunocorrective effect on impaired activity of phagocytes in a stroke-induced immunodeficiency. (Cytokines and Inflammation. 2011.
