The study of the blood coagulation system in patients with rheumatoid arthritis

S.K. Nuritdinova

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is one of the actual problems of modern rheumatology. The leading role in the pathogenesis of joint damage and extra-articular disorders in RA belong to changes in cellular and humoral immunity. The role of the blood coagulation system in RA is less studied. Purpose: To study the indices of the blood coagulation and their clinical and pathogenic significance in patients with RA. 73 patients with RA 21 to 60 years old, with the disease duration from 2 to 10 years, and 20 healthy individuals were investigated for prothrombin index (PTI), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), fibrinogen, and international normalized ratio (INR). Patients with RA showed increased levels of PTI and blood fibrinogen, reduced INR value and APTT shortening, indicating an increased activity of the blood coagulation system in RA. (Cytokines and Inflammation. 2012. Vol. 11. № 2. P. 86–89.)

Keywords: rheumatoid arthritis, blood coagulation, prothrombin, activated partial thromboplastin time, fibrinogen.
