Influence of bile sorption on the dynamics of tumor necrosis factor α in blood serum and bile in patients with tumors of biliopancreatoduodenal zone

N.U. Aripova, M.D. Juraev, U.S. Ismailov, A.N. Nabiev, S.K. Matmuratov

The aim was to investigate the influence of bile sorbtion on the dynamics of TNFαin blood serum and bile. We have investigated 73 patients with obstructive jaundice associated with malignant tumors of biliopancreatoduodenal zone. Concentrations of TNFα were investigated by ELISA in blood serum and bile before and after external bile duct drainage. Application of bile sorbtion (BS) (with enterosorbent AU-K – activated charcoal) led to a decrease in TNFα concentration from an initial level by 82.5 % in serum and by 90,6 % in bile. In control group, TNFα concentration in serium after external bile duct drainage decreased by 62,7 % and 82,2 % in serun and, corrwspondingly. Thus, application of BS by means of AU-K increases TNF excretion with bile and reduces endogenous intoxication in patients. (Cytokines and Inflammation. 2012. Vol. 11. № 2. P. 119–122.)

Keywords: mechanical jaundice, TNF-alpha, activated charcoal, bile sorption.
