Investigation of the dynamics of immune complex formation and elimination in systemic lupus erythematosus by mathematical modelling tools

By the mathematical modelling tools, some factors of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) pathogenesis were investigated. It was found that the uncontrolled increase in the antigen-antibody complexes formation rate resulted in a significant decrease of free C1q level – organism becomes unable to produce C1q in quantities sufficient to bind such amounts of immune complexes. Study of the antigen-antibody-C1q immune complexes elimination by the erythrocyte receptor CR1 showed that this receptor is unable to affect the immune complexes elimination in SLE, because the rate of CR1 resynthesis is by several orders lower than the immune complex formation rate.
