MECHANISMS OF INFLAMMATORY PROCESS IN PULMONARY SARCOIDOSIS
T.P. Ses
A review. Sarcoidosis is characterized by the presence of epitheloid cell granulomas in affected organs and tissues. Aetiological factor of sarcoidosis has not been identified. Activation of alveolar macrophages, Th1 lymphocytes, monocytes and fibroblasts contributes to pathogenesis of sarcoidosis. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid levels of cytokines, soluble adhesion molecules and receptors are considered to serve as activity markers of sarcoid inflammation. Immunopathological processes determine the clinical course and prognosis of sarcoidosis.
