SERUM LEVELS OF CYTOKINES AND SOLUBLE FORMS OF IMMUNOCOMPETENT CELL MEMBRANE ANTIGENS IN SYPHILIS

E.S. Vyasmina, V.V. Novikov, N.A. Dobrotina, N.V. Frigo, V.D. Komarova, S.I. Novikova, T.G. Martinova, L.M. Abalkina

Determination of IL-4, IFNg, soluble HLA class I antigens, soluble CD50 and CD95 levels was carried out in sera of patients with manifestative, secondary, early latent syphilis and at seroresistance after treatment of syphilis. The cytokine and soluble antigens concentration have been determinated with the aid of immunoenzyme assay. It was shown that in the sera of syphilitic patients the level of IFNg is increased. It suggests that Th1 response is activated predominately. The development of infectious process from manifestative syphilis towards seroresistance after treatment of syphilis results in decreasing soluble HLA class I antigens level. Patients with the manifestative forms of syphilis had elevated levels of soluble CD95 antigen. Manifestative, secondary and early latent syphilis was characterised by the raising of soluble CD50 antigen serum contents. At the seroresistance after treatment of syphilis the level of this antigen was decreased. The obtained data suggest that soluble HLA class I antigens, CD50, and CD95 antigens have immunoregulatory role and that Th1 response is preferentialy activated during syphilitic infection.
