CYTOKINE SYSTEM IN NOSOCOMIAL PNEUMONIA PATIENTS

The article presents the results of cytokine system investigation in patients with different clinical and etiological forms of nosocomial pneumonia. Prevalent activation of Th2 lymphocytes, revealed in patients, can be related to cellular immune deficiency in nosocomial pneumonia. The increase of IL-6, IL-8 and IL-10 levels, associated with significant fall of IFNg was found to be prognostically unfavourable. Obtained data enlarge preconceived idea of cytokine-mediated mechanisms of lungs injury. The obtained data elucidate cytokine-mediated mechanisms of lungs injury.
