GENE EXPRESSION AND MAJOR IMMUNOREGULATORY CYTOKINES PRODUCTION IN VIRAL HEPATITIS C

Data regarding changes in levels of proinflammatory and Th1/Th2 cytokine gene expression and secretion levels in hepatitis C patients are collected in this review article. Possible role of Th2 cytokines in development of chronicity is discussed. Modulation of the immune response by HCV virus by changing Th1/Th2 balance is discussed.
