EFFECTS OF IMMUNOMODULATOR BESTIM ON SPONTANEOUS AND INDUCED PRODUCTION OF CYTOKINES IFNγ, IL-1β, IL-4, IL-8, IL-10 BY BLOOD IMMUNOCOMPETENT CELLS OF HEALTHY HUMANS IN VITRO
V.A. Zurochka, I.I. Dolgushin, A.S. Simbirtsev
The effects of immunomodulator Bestim on spontaneous and mitogen-induced (with phytohemagglutinin and E. coli LPS) cytokine production (IFNγ, IL-4, IL-8, IL-1β, IL-10) by human whole blood cells in vitro were investigated. Bestim elevated spontaneous production of IL-10 and inhibited induced production of IL-4; it stimulated PHA- and LPS-induced production of IFNγ and decreased LPS-induced secretion of IL-8. The data suggest that Bestim can help to down-regulate the Th2 and up-regulate the Th1 cell activity. (Cytokines and Inflammation. 2007. Vol. 6, No. 1. P. 31-35.)
