Pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines content in pregnancy with chronic pyelonephritis

V.I. Shcherbakov, T.I. Riabichenko, G.A. Skosyreva, A.N. Trunov

The inflammatory process in the mother's body has an adverse effect on the course of pregnancy, being one of the main reasons that violate the normal vector of fetal development. One of the important regulatory circuits which are broken thus is a cytokine loop. The study showed that pregnant women with pyelonephritis have practically the same level of IL-4 as pregnant without pyelonephritis (control group). In pregnant women with pyelonephritis, the level of IL-6 was 1.5times higher, IL-8 — 2.3 times, and IL-17A — 4.5 times higher than in the control group. It is concluded that in the presence of latent inflammation, successful development of pregnancy is regulated not only by the Th1/Th2 ratio, but also by the ratio Th2/Th17. (Cytokines and Inflammation. 2015. Vol. 14. № 3. P. 95–98.)

Keywords: pregnancy, pyelonephritis, inflammation, cytokines.
