The role of cytokines in the development of the phenomenon of inhibition by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs of barium sulfate-induced luminol-dependent chemiluminescence of blood in patients with intolerance to these drugs

S.V. Chausova, K.G. Gurevich, G.P. Bondareva, S.V. Kalish, I.Y. Malyshev

We investigated the contribution of cytokine mechanism in the development of the phenomenon of inhibition of barium sulfate induced luminol-dependent chemiluminescence (SLСHL) of the blood after the incubation with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in vitro in patients with NSAIDs intolerance. measured The levels of cytokines IL-1β, IL-8, TNFα, IFNγ and IL-4 were measured with ELISA in the blood plasma after preincubation of blood sample with NSAIDs in patients with NSAID intolerance and healthy donors. It is revealed that the proinflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-8, TNFα and IFNγ do not contribute to the suppression of blood SLСHL under the influence of NSAIDs. The anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-4 shows a minor contribution to the development of that phenomenon in patients with cutaneous manifestations of intolerance to NSAIDs. Keywords: non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs intolerance, cytokines.
